Lana Del Rey says goodbye to social media.
The 36-year-old singer-songwriter took to Instagram on Saturday (September 11) to announce that she will soon be deactivating her social media accounts in order to focus on future artistic endeavors.
“Hi guys. Just wanted to let you know that tomorrow we’re going to be deactivating our social media accounts, my social media accounts,” Del Rey said in the brief video, captioned “On Recording.” is simply because I have so many other interests and other jobs that I do that require confidentiality and transparency.”
In the nearly minute-long black-and-white clip, the singer thanked her fans for their support and assured them that she would continue to release new music, spoken word albums and poetry books. Last week she released her new single “Arcadia”, which will appear on her eighth album, blue rampswhich is scheduled for release on October 22.
“I’m always very present and I love what I do. I’m absolutely here for the music and also doing different endeavors,” she continued. “For now, I think I’ll just keep my circle a bit closer and continue to develop other skills and interests.”
Del Rey closed the video saying she’s “always here making a lot of records and waiting to live life” and adding that she “always loved sharing all these really little treats with you” before thanking the fans and give the camera a peace sign.
Del Rey has been prolific lately. Earlier this year, she recently released Chemtrails on the Country Club album, which reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart. And at the end of 2020, she launched her poetry collection Violet bent backwards on the grass. Chemtrails follows 2019 Norman F—ing Rockwellwhich peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. This album earned the singer-songwriter his career-best reviews and multiple Big Four Grammy nominations.
