Italy-Based IuviT Media Sales Secured International EFM Sales Rights For Aidan Quinn Drama Sharp on the injustices suffered by immigrant workers along the US-Mexico border

Filter got an exclusive preview of the film about a newspaper editor fighting for justice for the family of a slain worker in a border town. Faced with obstacles at every turn, including unnecessary law enforcement, the editor is beset by sudden illness as trouble with his wife arises at home.

Deirdre Lovejoy plays the local police chief and Wendy Makkena is the reporter’s wife. Carlos Gomez, Danay Garcia, Lovensky Jean-Baptiste, Walter Belenky, Sal Lopez and Christopher Rich round out the key cast.

Gravitas Ventures handled the film’s North American release, which shot in Arizona. Juan Martinez Vera made his directorial debut and the producers are Per Melita, whose credits include roger Dodger, and Vera. Joe Soldwedel and Brett Soldwedel served as executive producers.

Vera was born in the rural town of Tacubaya in the Mexican state of Guanajuaon and moved to the United States with her family when she was 11 years old. After graduating from UCLA and the USC School of Cinematic Arts, he received the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship to write and direct his short film Sparkwho earned a US Student BAFTA Award nomination in 2016.
